Warm milk (115º) | 1 cup |
Instant dry yeast | 2 1/2 tsp |
Melted butter (room temp.) | 1/3 cup |
Salt | 1 tsp |
White sugar | 1/2 cup |
All purpose flour | 4 1/2 |
Filling: | |
Butter (almost melted) | 1/2 cup |
Packed brown sugar | 1 cup |
Cinnamon | 2 tbsp |
Cream OR milk (for pouring over) | 1/2 cup |
Frosting: | |
Softened cream cheese | 6 oz. |
Softened butter | 1/3 cup |
Powdered sugar | 2 cups |
Vanilla OR maple extract | 1/2 tbsp |


Instructions
Pour warm milk into stand mixer & sprinkle yeast on top.
Add in eggs, butter, salt, sugar. Then 4 cups of flour & use beater attachment until just combined.
Allow rest 5 mins to soak up liquid.
Switch to dough hook, beat on med speed 5-7 mins until a sticky dough is formed. May add in the extra 1/2 cup flour if needed.
Put dough into greased bowl, cover with tea towel and let rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.
While dough is rising combine ingredients for filling and set aside.
Roll out dough into rectangle and spread cinnamon filling across to all edges, then roll up.
Cut into 12 rolls and place in a greased 9 X 13 pan. Let rise again with tea towel in a warm spot for 20-ish mins.
Pour cream over and back at 375º for 20-ish mins.
Make frosting in stand mixer while they bake.
Let cinnamon buns cool completely before spreading icing on top.
